Short Story: The Great Gatsby Modern Style

From his room the green porch light looked so far away, and the girl he wanted so badly was out of reach. Jay Gatsby was a boy in high school longing for the popular girl named Daisy. They met before and dated briefly, but then Jay switched schools and Tom, the jock, took over and is currently dating Daisy. It was the day of prom, so Jay wasn't having one of his weekly parties in hope Daisy would show up. Jay new he had to win her over at prom, so he asked his neighbor Nick to take him with. Nick told him he asked Daisy's best friend Jordan Baker to go with him and that he could tag along. He was ecstatic and rented a pink tux and drove his yelllow car in hope to impress Daisy at their reunion. Rumors at school went around that Tom was secretly cheating on Daisy with Myrtle who was currently dating Wilson, but no one dared to say anything out loud. Nick, Jordan and Jay all went in the dance hall for their prom when Daisy saw him. Her expression was at first happy, then everything got awkward quick. Tom got very territorial and Myrtle was jealous that Tom was holding Daisy so tightly. As the night went on, Jay kissed Daisy which brought back old memories. Tom saw and started punching Jay while Jay explained that they love each other and Daisy never loved him. Jay grabbed Daisy and they took his yellow car out of the parking lot when Daisy started backing out, she accidently hit Myrtle with the car. Myrtle ran and told Wilson that a yellow car hit her and Wilson became enraged. Wilson went to ask Tom who hit his girl and Tom said that Jay had a yellow car. Wilson drove straight to Jay's house, and egged and t-pied it. Daisy was affraid Tom would break up with her, but in the end Daisy stayed with Tom. Jay was so humiliated that he was never seen again but Nick knew he had to get out of this small town. Nick asked Jordan to be his girlfriend but she said she already found someone else and he was devastated. Nick decided that this wasn't the place for him and that Daisy and Tom just string people along, not caring who they hurt.

I know the book is completely different, but in a way this is how "The Great Gatsby" was told. I ended the story differently in order for it to seem more age realistic.
