My Slaughterhouse

          Breaking the fourth wall, having no chronological order, using irony, playfulness, and black humor are all elements of postmodernism. These elements all come together in the novel "Slaughterhouse Five," by Kurt Vonegut. Including many examples, the novel exemplifies postmodernism with the help of temporal distortion, metafiction and several other characteristics.

Postmodernist Project

This is our picture for the postmodernist project. We are dead bodies spelling "So it goes". Those words are used in the book, Slaughterhouse Five by, Kurt Vonegut. The people involved in this project are, Whitney Houg, Sarah Stevens, Eli Esparza, Connor Albright, Syerra Fox and Miyah Velasquez.

Billy board a plane that he knows is going to crash. A barbershop quartet of optometrists called the Four-eyed Bastards serenade the passengers. Billy remember a public hanging he witnessed in Dresden in which a Polish man died for having sexual realtions with a German woman.
Billy dozes off and goes back to war and tells the Three Musketeers to go on without him.

Billy takes drugs to fall asleep and wakes up in his prison bed next to Edgar Derby and Paul Lazzaro. Billy remembers how he dies because he has seen it before. Englishman who beat up Lazzaro stops by, and Lazzaro tells him that he is going to have the officer killed after the war. The sweetest thing in life, he claims, is revenge. Billy says he has all the ways he is going to die recorded on a cassette that he has left in a safe-deposit box in a bank.Billy is amazed by Dresden’s architecture. The night before his daughter’s wedding day, Billy has trouble falling asleep. He has already traveled in time and knows he will be kidnapped by the Tralfamadorians’ flying saucer soon. The phone rings, and Billy hears the voice of a drunk who has dialed the wrong number. Downstairs, Billy watches a late-night documentary on American bombers and their gallant pilots in World War II. Slightly unstuck in time, Billy watches the movie forward and backward. Billy heads out to the backyard to meet the saucer that will arrive soon. Once on board, Billy is asked if he has any questions. Weary and Billy’s captors, a small group of German irregulars, take their valuables and discover an obscene photograph in Weary’s pocket. As Billy lies in the snow, he sees an image of Adam and Eve in the polished boots of the commander. In chapter 2 of slaughterhouse five, the author talks about Billy Pilgrim who can go back in time and do everything he once did. Billy was in a plane crash and he was the only surviver. A few days later his wife died of carbon-monoxide moisoning. The phrase "So it goes" always is said after something bad happens. Billy started talking about how aliens abducted him and took him to the planet Tralfamadore. Everyone thought he was going crazy, so they wanted to take care of him. Billy describes his entry into the army, and his dazed trek behind enemy lines after the disastrous Battle of the Bulge in World War II.
